Tort defense

Clinics
At VLSP's clinics, volunteer attorneys spend two hours providing brief service to clients. In the Debt Collection Advice Clinic, lawyers advise clients with debt collection problems. In the Family Court clinic, lawyers help clients prepare custody and visitation petitions. In the Pro Se Divorce clinic, experienced matrimonial lawyers walk a class of clients through preparation of default divorce paperwork. In the Wills clinic, low income and limited asset clients will be able to meet with a volunteer attorney and have a will (also health care proxy and power of attorney documents) prepared in one session. In Lawyer of the Morning, lawyers are stationed at Rochester City Court and assist tenants facing eviction.


We Need Law Student Volunteers To:
* Assist Advocates with legal research and drafting court documents

* Author materials for use in new substantive areas of representation and develop pro se materials for client use

* Attend court with our advocates and staff clinics

* Work with pro se clients on debt resolution, preparation of health care directives, and estate planning
