Utah State Bar Pro Bono Project

The Utah State Bar encourages Utah attorneys to support civil legal services organizations and provide pro bono representation as part of their professional responsibility to provide legal services to those unable to pay. A lawyer should aspire to render at least 50 hours of pro bono publico legal services per year. The Pro Bono Project conducts a number of projects and coordinates with local civil legal aid organizations, S.J. Quinney Law School, BYU Law School and The Utah State Courts to help ensure that all of Utah's citizens have equal access to the justice system.

The project works to support the non-profit legal service providers in the state. The project is geared at recruiting attorneys to provide pro bono service statewide. The Utah State Bar does not place clients directly with attorneys. If someone is in need of legal services it is recommended that they contact the Utah State Courts Self-Help Center for information on legal services that may be available for the specific legal issue and area of the state.
