Pisgah Legal Services seeks to pursue justice by providing legal assistance and advocacy to help low-income people in Western North Carolina meet their basic needs and improve their lives.  Pisgah Legal Services provides free civil legal aid to people who live in poverty, helping the most vulnerable people in the community to meet urgent needs such as housing, safety from abuse, health care, and income.

The Mountain Area Volunteer Lawyer Program (MAVL) asks pro bono attorney to contribute at least 50 pro bono hours per year.  MAVL select the types of cases to accept, and conducts initial interviews so that the attorney may review the proposed referral prior to determining if it will be accepted.  All clients referred through MAVL are pre-screened for financial and case-priority eligibility.
